Does anyone know roughly when the photo of YEG on Google Earth was taken...North Cariboo's facilities does not appear on them, and neither does the car wash, amongst other things

So..... Its been a number of months since we were advised that we can expect a big announcement in the not-too-distant future. I would think that we have passed a reasonable amount of time and should have heard something by now. I wonder if the increase in fuel prices and delayed or canceled these plans???

The google earth photo is post 2005 as the new Executive flight centre FBO and North Cariboo (who leases space from Executive.) opened the new place in 2005.

Actually if look at the google earth photograph you can see Executive's frame being built. The ramp has also been expanded and Executive has built another hanger in the vicinity.

Thanks,,that would also explain why there's so many C-130's....I think the previous image they had was more up to date, but it was in winter time, at least that part of the city.

Yes indeed...we are waiting...but even an announcement from Canada Post like this at Winnipeg Airport would be great...Edmonton also needs a new postal sort/handing facility:

http://www.aecon.com/News_Releases/news07030801.aspx

Aecon / Caspian joint venture awarded contract for new
Winnipeg mail processing plant

Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) announced today that a 50/50 joint venture consisting of Aecon Buildings and Caspian Projects Inc. of Winnipeg, Manitoba has secured a contract to design and build Canada Post’s new Winnipeg mail processing plant. Under the contract, Aecon and Caspian will design and build a new LEED certified plant and administration complex totaling approximately 260,000 sq feet. The Project will consist of a 200,000 sq foot plant, 20,000 sq foot mezzanine area and 40,000 sq foot administration facility, and will include 40 high dock loading bays. It represents the largest investment Canada Post has made in a city’s postal operation in the last 20 years, and is the first step in the Corporation’s plans to invest as much as $1.9 billion over the next several years to modernize and revitalize its national postal network.

The new plant will be located at the Winnipeg International Airport and will be built to LEED specifications (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), reflecting the environmental sustainability of the design and construction methods used. Construction is scheduled to begin in July, 2008, with completion slated for December, 2009.

etc.

YWG is also a major hub for KFC (Purolator.) and morningstar (FedEx.) making it a more in demand area for that particular project.

YEG's planned project is a big one but is still a ongoing snaggle of hurdles as it moves closer.

I would like to enlighten you, but my job would be on the line.

Canada Post has NO relationship with couriers...that building is simply to serve Winnipeg and Manitoba. My point is that EIA should be actively pursueing that type of tenant...as did Winnipeg Airports...bringing hundreds of jobs to the airport lands to feed the transit systems etc. As far as couriers go...obviously that may tie into EIA "big announcement" with any luck.

Hey guys, sorry it took me a few days, but I finally got the hotel up. Not a great idea of what the finishes will be, but at least you all now have an idea of what to expect.

Is this better?
