Yeah, 210 is currently waiting on permitting. There was some confusion about the permit status with the city since 210 Trade and Epicenter are seen by the city as separate projects, not the same. 210 started going vertical and got popped due to lack of permitting. They had to stop until the permit issues get resolved.

The Vue is pouring right now, foundation work is about done and they should be going vertical soon.

Catalyst continues at a BLISTERING pace. Novare is showing other developers how things get done. The office portion of the project should be going up soon.

The NASCAR tower and HoF are going full force.

The Wachovia tower and cultural projects are moving quickly as well.

BofA's new tower and the Ritz Carlton are currently vertical, with the Ritz Carlton a little far ahead.

The Park seems to have stopped momentum, don't know what's going on with that frequently delayed project. I think we might see it finished under a new owner (my opinion, not based on anything I know)

Royal Court is going vertical, as is Garrison, giving us a couple of residential midrises on either side of downtown.

Encore continues to sell, no words on when we might see ground broken, but it seems as if sales are going well.

One Charlotte, as noted, is on hold, as is the Trump project apparently.

300 S. Tryon might be back on. Some folks have reported new activity at the site and that people that are currently parking there have been told that they won't be able to park there any more, so we'll see.

I check the 210 Trade/Epicenter webcam daily, and the crane on the tower portion has started moving again after sitting still for weeks. It looks to me like the Aloft hotel portion of the project has topped out.

Everyone says The Park is stalled - but they are looking at the bottom floors to be completed first, as is customary with towers in America. The Park will be finished from the top to the bottom. This means the penthouses on top will be the first to be occupied and moved into. This explains why we are not seeing a lot of action on the lower floors. The construction pace is rather slow.

To those that say that the permitting process at 210 Trade was a cover up for the economic problems, they are wrong. My friend who is an architect said he saw the plans for 210 trade on the desk of an office in the planning department. This project is actively being worked on and it is full force ahead.

Only two projects have been put on hold, and one (as mentioned above) is rumored to be moving forward in the near future. One Charlotte was put on indefinite hold, but I really think it was a case of a national developer moving into a market they really did not know. To my knowledge, Portman did not pair up with any local developer to help sell, market, or even know current market conditions with their development. They came in with what they thought people wanted and tried to make it work. Maybe nobody told them having a floor of a million dollars for a residential tower that fronts a freeway and a hotel is not exactly what anybody is looking for in a city which can offer cheaper condos with better views.

Uhhh, I'm a native Charlottean, thank you very much. I keep up with the city as best I can from across the country. And the tone of my post did not warrant such a reply so please try to refrain from being so combative.

A couple of construction updates taken from the 22nd floor of the Hilton:

For all the photos I took from atop the Hilton, I created a thread in the city photos section here: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=150175

Impressive growth. I had no idea. It's always nice to see a good mix of condos going up.

Thanks for posting those, CLTNC. Here are some more photos I took 5/2/08.
I posted a large construction update at the thread CHARLOTTE | Development Summary so I won't repost all those over here.

At one time, I had heard of a plan for a new federal courthouse on the parking lot in the center of the photo, but I have not seen anything on it recently.

Elizabeth Avenue, CPCC, Presbyterian Hospital area, to be served by the proposed streetcar line.

Fourth Ward park:

I hope this brick building never gets torn down, I love it too much. Ok, maybe for a 70+ floor tower.

Ok more railporn...

CHARLOTTE | Development Summary

Next, maybe I'll try to do some skyline shots or night photos.

One of the reason there isn't any news about the federal courthouse is that there was a moratorium on all new federal level courthouses and the moratorium was recently lifted I believe.

Good job on the pics on this thread. Charlotte already has a great skyline (BOA Charlotte is also one of my favorite buildings) and now with the additional projects currently u/c and with the proposed projects in the works, Charlotte could have a skyline that cities 3 times its size will envy. BTW, I really like the design of the Westin above. Most hotels (other than the W hotels perhaps) are frankly fairly boring but that one looks really cool. Anyway, congrats to Charlotte once again on all the new projects.

I never knew there were plants up there.

Also, there is now a thread on the construction of the Wachovia Corporate Center - CHARLOTTE | Wachovia | 764ft/233m 48 floor office | 42 floor condo | arts center
