Atlanta Overload, part two

On to Buckhead

Now, personally, unlike Midtown, I found Buckhead to be a little soulless and disjointed, at least the part I saw. I understand this is a newer area and I imagine overtime this will resolve itself. Admittedly, I didn't spend too much time there either. But, the buildings were certainly nice to look at!

The condos being built in the building on the right were starting at $1 million. Now that is more like SF! v v

Looks like BART

This is as far out as I go...

Let's go to Downtown

Not everything is shiny and new

I couldn't even take the time to focus it was so dreadful here

Now for Atlanta 360

Darkness falls on Atlanta...

Thank you for coming and seeing Atlanta, goodnight!

Fantastic shots. You really got around and captured much of the atlanta essence. Nice photos of building details too. I am blown away by the photos, but more so Atlanta's growth into a really large city. Atlanta looks (and is) one of America's largest cities with a lot of urbanity. The transformation is amazing, even in the last 10 years, lots becoming filled up, skyscrapers rising, development focused around transit, etc.

From some angles ATL appears to be a jumbled mess due to the lack of a grid but...it works. Parts 1 & 2 are very, very good!

Atlanta has a grid... it's just a messy one. It adds character.

I agree. However, it should be noted that Downtown Connector (I75/I85) did damage the grid. Streets that immediatly come to mind that were disconnected are 8th, 3rd, Spring plus I'm sure many more. If you look at a old map or old aerial photos of Atlanta you can see the effect.

Though I avoided getting in the car as much as possible, I agree that it was very easy to get around. More so than SF which is very much a grid. I just had to glance at a map and I could get to where I was going (or make a quick u-turn if I needed). And, really, the only time I got lost was when I got myself stuck on some long onramp near midtown that took me away from downtown to who knows where. Lucky for me though because I turned around and came back and was able to get the last shot from this set which is one of my favorite.

kudos on part II.

LOL - i spent 8 years in this building with MCI. the shade overhangs created interesting wildlife viewing opportunites - there was a hawk that trolled the area and always came back to the same ledge off of our floor with his kills - we watched it feast on many a snake and rodent.

^the headquarters of my dad's first job in atlanta (and the one that eventually had us relocate from tampa, fl) was in that building. hc associates, back in the mid '90s. i always thought the sunshades were rather neat, and that building is very much a "tower in the park" - or maybe even in the "woods."

wonderful photos, they do a great job summarizing what the city both is and is becoming.

Atlanta is a jumbled mess - Its working toward being more connected, but still a long way to go. Stepper - just moved to SF from Atlanta and loving the more connected city feel.
