Scaffolding fell off the DB Building about 1&1/2 hours ago. Two more firefighters were injured. This thing is a damn death trap.

Guys, is the wall underconstruction on the far left part of the FT or is it the future wall of the fountain that will be in the place of the former WTC???

It looks like the type of building that would be cursed.

You have to expect at leat a few deaths in the construction. I pray that not be the case, but it is very possible. The construction of part of the new WTC already took 1 life with 7 WTC. And if you consider these two firefighters, I guess it would be 3.

I wish they were added, but sadly they must not be added because if they are, everyone and their mother will wish for their deceased relatives to be added that may or may not have somehow been tied to the World Trade Center. Sadly, I believe that a gesture as nice as adding those firefighters will result in a disappointing brawl about many more names and petty squabbling that has no place at such a solemn site (yet of which we've seen way too much already). Thus, with my teeth clenched, I say that the memorial roster remains the same, and everyone else's deaths are mentioned elsewhere on the site.

To answer some questions on here, the most prominent thing under construction there is the shopping concourse that goes east-west directly to the south of the actual tower (in fact, the tower's columns form the hallway's north wall), going into the Calatrava terminal to the east and under West Street to the WTC to the west. Programmatically, the concourse is part of the FT, and its southern wall will be shared with the memorial complex directly to the south.

Question

And BTW, just what IS that thing the guy is using in the bottom pic that looks somewhat like a lawn mower?

Looks like he's smoothing out the surface of the concrete that was just poured, but I'm not sure. I've seen that type of machine in use before.

It's used to dry the concrete.

Actually it's a power trowel. It's used to float and finish the concrete.

^Nope, it's used mainly to finish the concrete.
