Woohoo!! Construction is finally starting on Block 21!!!

I'm looking out the window at city hall, and the construction barricades are going up and the tree removal is starting right now!!

"Site prep" activities may have begun - but not construction.

The site plan for Block 21 has not been approved and building permit applications have not been filed. Thus, actual "construction" of Block 21 cannot proceed. Nonetheless, a September 2007 ground breaking is anticipated for this development.

On the same note, the W Austin Residences website has been updated. It definitely is not the best site I've seen (by far), but it does have condominium floor plans included...

According to the latest news letter on Spring's site they have or were to have had a ceremony at 10AM this morning for official ground breaking.

The wording is a little borderline using past and pre tense.

I have not seen anything in any of the typical news outlets.

The W has some some really nice layouts. Any ideas on how much $$$?

I love the South facing aspect of some of these as well.. with the new city hall and CSC buidlings.. your view will be great for years.

Woo-hoo! Floorplans help a lot in getting the models sized correctly. GoldenBoot, I think you mentioned you thought my current model is too wide on the tower part, and I think you're probably correct. This will give me some more accurate info to go by.

Looks like 360 will add another floor before they raise the crane. It doesn't look like they have enough clearance but I guess it just looks that way from the ground.

It will be interesting to see how 21c and Frost will compliment each other in that area of DT. I have some misgivings that some of the newer buildings will block views of Frost, but oh well that's the nature of the beast. This building - 21c is unique and what I like is it's placement is on the East side of Congress ave.In an area that was in need of something to stand out.

Great news rolling out. I'm still as giddy as a school girl about 21C being 580 feet tall. I'm looking forward to adding that one to the model for sure.

it look great on the skyline. If you look at that picture from barton creek it will be right infront of the hilton. It looks like it will be right next to the Austonian, so that should look really cool.

I believe this is actually a block north and two blocks east of the austonian. Its right next to 300 Congress.

In short sustainability and affordability go hand in hand. By desiging more sustainable cities and buildings we can make Austin more affordable.

So, can you give us real numbers on how many teachers and firefighters have bought there as of now?

I believe he's talking about how it will be next to the Austonian in the view from Barton Creek.

I was looking at the webcam for 360, and it looks like they should have raised the crane again, like yesterday for sure. getting really close to the top of the building...

Anyhow, Yes this new tower (21C) is fierce, i have always liked the design since it first came out...

Nope...not yet. The crane is still at the same height it has been for the past several weeks and the new segments have not moved...

They really should get a move on, otherwise they'll be doing it in the rain. We even have some thunderstorms in the forecast, and I imagine that would make it difficult to hoist the new pieces into place.
