Office Occupancy
This isn't development news per se, but I'm wondering if anyone here is in commercial leasing and has a feel for the downtown office market.
I work in Renaissance Square and the building feels full. A review of Loopnet listings reveals very little in this building. Conversely, buildings like the Freeport McMoran building (333 N. Central) have a lot of occupancy (according to Loopnet), the Chase Tower is completely empty, and a lot of older buildings like 111 W. Monroe, the Luhrs Tower, 1 E. Washington (Cityscape Office Tower) seem to have a lot of availability. Further, most buildings along Central in midtown seem to have a lot of occupancy.
What's the feel for occupancy in high rise office buildings? Is it really that bad in Phoenix? Is occupancy currently too low for new office towers?
