After editing the street level photos first, here are aerial views from the same day.

What other suburbs in North America (aside from Toronto and Vancouver, and maybe Miami) that are building such extraordinarily tall towers?

quite jarring to see SFHs abutting skyscrapers with zero transition. it's like a mountain range next to the plains without any foothills.

Chances are high any suburban towers or clusters of towers will be next to tract homes and Ontario has many suburban towers and clusters of towers. Nearly all the recent additions are drastically taller and denser than those built in the 1960s.

There are townhouses in-between the towers and the detached houses. This is what it actually looks like a ground level:

I don't believe in the Vancouver approach of building a subway line under Cambie and imposing a 6-storey limit along the corridor.

The Rathwood district in the left foreground of that photo is the worst planned subdivision in all of Mississauga. But no reason to hold back the development of the City Centre because of past mistakes.

I hope to see that subdivision redeveloped one day - but it'll be a real fight to get a whole collection of those houses bought up. I had a friend in high school who lived in one of those houses, she was shocked when I told her that this project was going ahead. It still blows me away that this will be as tall as it is, because I'm still so used to this lot being an empty, overgrown field with a burned out house.

Holy cow the new buildings in the Missus' are tall! I remeber when I used to go to the Sega Palladium beside the highway when I was a teenager, and thought the skyline was impressive then...

81 storeys is extremely tall for any suburb. Is there another North American city with a suburban tower with that many stories?
