For what it’s worth Mission Group just resubmitted the applications for 346 Lawrence and their St Paul towers in order to keep them active.

Whether that proves true or not, only time will tell, but apparently this has been stated by both Mission Group and Kerkhoff.
No one knows, 10 years is a long time. I could see this in the short term though with the reduced rate of immigration over the next few years.

I would take the thoughts of a city councilor with a massive grain of salt. To say 10 years is just dumb. They have no clue.

Due to the mild winter, there is currently lots of construction activity that might not otherwise be happening at this time of year. Kelowna and much of BC is experiencing the tamest winter of all time, especially in regards to snowfall. All my years in Kelowna and I have never seen a winter like this one, we are in uncharted territory right now. Parts of the Southern US have had a snowier winter than we have - I mean come on! So to all you Okanagan newcomers, don't expect every winter to be like this one.

I moved to Kelowna in 2023, and this is the third winter a row like this. We had a cold snap last year in February, and an extreme cold snap in 2024 but otherwise, we’ve had some pretty mild winters the last 3 years.

Well the wine growers will be happy at least. How's the snowpack in the mountains around there?

Not good. I think it's snowed once since Xmas, and this is what it looked like on Boxing Day.

Only if it stays warm. A big cold snap after a warm winter can kill early budding.

Snow pack in the Okanagan mountains has maintained close to normal for this time of year, at least from reporting's this January. Next report it will probably fluctuate.

Still lots of time in February and March to keep building it up.

Does anyone know what’s going on with the hotel proposal on Harvey beside the Petro-Can at Richter?

For those who aren't aware, the city maintains a map showing active and proposed projects in several key areas of the city. Seems it was recently updated with new scan data for Waterstreet by the Park and 1333 Bertram building.

I'm confident we see 2 or 3 this year.

Predicting no tower starts for an entire upcoming decade is obviously impossible and likely going to be wrong, but I'm also skeptical at seeing 2 or 3 tower starts this year.

I'm expecting reality to be between those two scenarios.
