Kings - home ice and better then last year
Oilers - not as good as last year - inconsistent- and too many injuries.
Kings in 6. And I am not a Kings fan either.

My take

Goaltending - LA overall, but when Skinner is on, we WIN.
D - LA, but Edmonton has bomb and that comes out in times like this.
F - Edmonton for overall firepower, but LA is deeper

It's going to be a gooder and WILL depend on secondary scoring to get through, but I do believe that 29 and 97 know THIS is one of their key opportunities to show what they have got.

Game 1 - LA with a big win
2 - Edmonton with a sneaker
3 - Edmonton with a big win
4 - LA in OT
5 - Edmonton with a defining game
6 - Edmonton in OT

Edmonton in 6 baby!

One facility missing is a mid sized soccer stadium. As a result no soccer franchise either men or women. Come on Edmonton let's get this done.

Such a fun night out at the ballpark last night with 8004, yes 8004 others!!!! Hawks won, good game, great weather.

A couple of things though:

1. MANY people were late due to most driving down and cause backups up the hill to Sask drive. Buses and ambulances had trouble navigating and it was a bit of kaos out there for a good 30-40 minutes after the start of the game. They really need to push park and ride or promote LRT to Bay and walk down.

2. Because of a near sellout, concessions were absolutely overrun and took 25-30min to get anything. I know it is difficult to sometimes predict attendance, but something needs to be done there to offer more options for POS or grab and go without a teller. The people in front of us lost 2 full innings because of it just trying to get food for their kids.

3. Imagine if the large parking lot to the north was an event centre, brewery, destination food spot. I'm envisioning something medium in scale to make it work, keep some parking, but somewhere else for people to gather pre/post game, move the big bat there, create a spot for non-gamedays and start to work on more reasons to build-out Rossdale.

For the second consecutive year, the Edmonton Riverhawks are headed to the post-season!

Thanks to a big win tonight in Victoria, the Hawks have clinched the North Division second-half title and secured home field advantage for the first round of the West Coast League playoffs.

The Riverhawks will host Canadian rivals, the Victoria HarbourCats, for Game 2 of the series at RE/MAX Field on Saturday, August 9 at 7:00 PM.

Tickets for this home playoff game are now available at tickets.gohawks.ca

The playoff series will begin on the road in Victoria on Friday, August 8th, with the Riverhawks hosting Game 2 on Saturday, August 9th. If a third and deciding game is necessary, it will also be played in Edmonton on Sunday, August 10 at 1:00 PM. Tickets for a potential Game 3 will only be released following the conclusion of Saturday’s game.

The doors to RE/MAX Field will open at 5:30 PM on Saturday, August 9th , 90 minutes before first pitch.

Premium seating areas, including the Hawks Nest Lounge, Delta Valley Patio, suites, and the Alley Kat Party Pen, are now available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grandstand ticket prices for the playoffs will stay the same as regular season rates, starting at $20 for adults and $10 for youth.

Come join in on the fun with special guests, all your favourite contests, non-stop entertainment, and the biggest baseball matchup of the year!

The Riverhawks are 21-6 at home this season, and we need that same energy on Saturday. Let’s bring the noise, Edmonton, and give our team the home field advantage they deserve!

Who's getting excited?!!!

Better offence, a harder more D D to play against and a more experienced Skinner = top 4 team?

Add in a 97 who is hyper driven to 'win in Edmonton.

CFR - Super fun, delicious chili cook-off Wed, but otherwise very quiet out. Last night more of a vibe, but still, where is everyone? It seemed as though very few folks from Edmonton wanted to come take in the CFR Tailgate post-work.

Can a city that prides itself on quiet wealth rise to the challenge?

“I get fired up whenever people ask me this question,” she says. “I don’t think we have a complicated relationship with polish and ambition. We’ve just been afraid to do it — but when we do, people follow. They just need to see it first.”

She is fearless in the belief that if you build it, Edmonton will back it.

Even with her husband’s long-term future unannounced at the time of our interview, Kyle McDavid insists her investment in Edmonton isn’t contingent on where the Oilers captain ends up. “I love this city regardless of whether we’re here.” She pauses. “I would have done it regardless. People have multiple businesses all over the world.”
