I find it interesting that Trump is supposedly Satan and Public Enemy Number One and we're not supposed to give in to him, but on the other hand we have to vote for the guy that he wants in our own federal election so that he stays happy.

Wouldn't it be TDS - as you often say - to be automatically against someone (ie Carney) for no other reason than Trump claiming to like him (at the moment, and probably just to help PP)?

I think Carney's approach is more reassuring.

I think it's hard to say, given that Trump is so unpredictable. (Nothing for or against Carney OR Poilievre, really.)

One thing that has become clear is how, like many insightful Americans have said, things are very personal with Trump. Even international relations. He absolutely despised Trudeau so this personal animus seems to have irreparably poisoned the entire Canada-US bilateral relationship.

"Vote for the guy who actually makes Trump respect Canada as Canada" vs "Vote for the guy who would align Canada with Trump"?

The Fuck Trudeau signs have already been replace by Fuck Carney signs in rural SW Ontario. Those people will be pissed if the Liberals win again, but they are a small fringe.

Agreed, though I'd expect them to continue to be a bit disruptive and aggressive.

Very much appreciate the respect Carney receives from Trump. Massive step up from our previous PM who openly mocked Trump after Trump’s first term. It’s not necessarily trying to defeat US tarrifs, rather partnering with our largest trading partner to have something that works for both countries. Good for Carney.

You can tell that Carney commands respect based on his experience dealing with higher up, powerful people.
