"Trump wants a Liberal government" is flying around every CPC supporter social media account I see. Really getting their marching orders.

As if Trump can be trusted on anything.

The same CPC supporters doing that are the ones who were posting congrats and kissing the ring on the re-election of Trump and are the 30-40% of CPC supporters who love Trump and want us to be the 51st state.

Drumpfian reverse psychology is a wondrous thing. It might work on a rube from rural Arkansas with an eighth grade "ejacashun" (typical Republican voter), but, most Canadians are smarter than that.

Putin did the same thing in the 2024 election- endorsed Harris in late September. Putin knew exactly what he was doing. This is why I suspect Trump may have been influenced by Putin to play the same game.

Hilarious this happened the day after Putin and Trump talked on the phone. Putin made him wait 2 hours for the call. Then he ended the ceasefire Trump "negotiated" with him almost immediately.

It should be noted that the Liberals got the first pipeline to tidewater built in two generations....despite others trying (including a decade of Harper)...they actually bought the pipeline to make sure it happened....despite the rhetoric, pipelines are not anti-Liberal.

should also be noted that axing the consumer carbon tax doesn't mean eliminating climate policy....it does for Pierre, but not Carney....he eliminated the initiative because it was made politically toxic by Pierre, despite it being the best economic climate policy available....now we will pay for climate action with our taxes because of it.

That is simply not true. Keystone Pipeline was built by the private sector in 2010.

big polluters need to pay for their pollution....most of the world has now accepted this....the only other solution is to not have a climate change policy....Pierre is trying that.....he will fail.

I think its funny that the conservatives had a consumer carbon tax in their platform in the 2021 election...had they won, we would today have a carbon tax....but they saw political opportunism and killed it to try and get elected.

The LPC also had a consumer carbon in their platform in 2021 and have now seemingly "seen political opportunism and killed it to try and get elected".

An interesting question is where will Mark Carney run for his seat?

Edmonton? The Northwest Territories? Ottawa? Elsewhere?

There’s quite a lot of strategizing involved, I’m sure, but it would be pretty ironic to see Carney representing Alberta and Poilievre representing Ottawa lol
