Current remaining snow cover

Toronto - trace
Montréal - trace
Ottawa - 25 cm
Québec City - 35 cm

Ottawa has gone from over 70 cm to 25 cm in about a week. With little rainfall during that time.

Dumping snow currently about 5cm and accumulating fast at my place, and 0c on its way to a high of 5c today and eventually clearing up by the afternoon.

Rare lucky break for St. John's. Yesterday forecasters predicted that the front which would cross the Avalon would likely stall and really bump up snowfall totals. That's such a St. John's thing to have happen.

The front stalled over the Bonavista Peninsula and Western Avalon instead. They've picked up over 20cm of snow while we have nothing (yet). Front will get moving again sometime this afternoon and swing through here, we're expecting just 5 cm now.

Some freezing drizzle on my way into the office, and about an hour ago the heavy snow has started. Should get 15-20cm by midnight. Had only snow in the shadows left but will have good coverage again for a week. Dog will love this.

I would really like it if you could tell us some episodes of your youth. :sbarazzino:

How long before squatters move in across the street?

Oh, never (the street at the bottom of my block is probably more boarded up than not; any squatters will go there, less risky). The neighbours all came over for a celebratory beer yesterday and we vowed to phone 911, all of us, every time, if anyone is even picking at the plywood. Not sure if it's visible, but they have pieces of 2/4 jamming all the windows closed as well, and one of the neighbours told me it's the same in the back. They're moved into the first of those two matching grey houses further down the street (hence my camera being turned).

BUT that one is home to the actual criminal boss for this neighbourhood, and his heavily made-up but sickly housebound wife. He'll keep his own place calm and orderly, but that is where they're all shuffling like zombies for their drugs.

9C and a mix of sun and clouds. Wind did some weird things. It was below freezing until noon and temperature fell to 2C at 7PM, 2 hours after the high.

Snow is not melting fast enough because the dewpoint is below freezing.

Low of -8C (wind chill of -15) this morning. Very cold.

The warmspot was Val Marie, SK at 17.1C

Warmest low was Discovery Island, BC at 5.4C

^ I noticed the moon looked rather unusual earlier, but had no idea that it was the start of an eclipse.

So quiet on my street now. Still hundreds of people going to the other crackhouse, but they're buying and leaving. Boss is indeed not letting them use the drugs there.

4PM: Windsor, ON now at 19.8C. So close. I believe next hour should be a done deal as far as 20C.

Nice Windsor! -2 at my house right now, was -8 this morning. Looks like cold and snowy this weekend, then flirting with double digits next week.

Lots of snow in the mountains still, nearly 1m in the last week at Lake Louise and counting!
