I believe this is a 38-unit building that was planned for this corner

Rio Can is now showing a No Frills store for the former Bed Bath and Beyond/Rooms and Spaces location at the Corbett Centre. If this holds true this would be the second No Frills store in Fredericton with the other currently under construction on 2NC

Nice! Makes sense Fredericton will be getting two because SJ is rumoured to be getting a 2nd one on the east side (Parkway Mall). So there will be one west and east sides of the city.

The 2nd Fredericton and SJ ones will be part of their newer small format concept they are now launching across Canada. Some as small as 10,000sf (so like a size of a Dollarama store for example).

Was going to say that is quite small for a grocery store but it looks like they have a plan for smaller units

Did the Good Life plans fall through? Or is the new gym going somewhere else? Weren't we talking a month or two ago that Good Life was going into that spot (moving from Uptown Centre maybe)?

In any case, getting another grocery store in that area should be good. Hopefully it does well.

Indeed, seems that plan fell through. No Frills is probably a better fit anyways.

Suspect this will probably put pressure on Save On Foods at the Corbett, Not sure how solid their model is.

Obviously a place large business like Loblaw's have background analysis to determine store locations, but I didn't think there would be much desire to be parked between a Costco and Walmart Supercentre.

I always thought one near the Prospect/Hanwell intersection would be ideal. There's numerous apartment complexes in the area and you could capture a lot traffic in/out of the city towards Hanwell and Spring hill way

Anecdotal, but as someone who works in the area, the chances of me stopping at Costco or Walmart on the way home are zero. I would gladly pop in to No Frills though.

From Twitter, the corner of Dundonald and Smythe. Possible future development site? That corner is a prime spot for a mixed-use development.

This would be a great spot for some EV chargers.

Edit - This would not be a great place for EV chargers. I was trying to reply to the new Sholten's image on Never's Road. Now THAT would be a great place for some EV chargers.

An anonymous poster on the Ward 10 Facebook group claims that Colpitts has purchased this property and they plan to build an apartment building on it.

That's the Maritime Bus "station" site, yes? Any word on what's happening to that?

(And anything on what the building will look like?)

Housing starts through July. The numbers are quite disappointing so far this year. Hopefully this is a symptom of many of last year's starts not being completed yet, and developers will move on to other projects.

Trying to think of what is most likely to get started this year:
- Colpitts apartment at Wetmore and Kimble
- First Colpitts building at York Street (whether that will count depends on if they do a separate building permit for the foundation or not)
- First larger building on Serenity Lane, behind the smaller buildings fronting the street
- Next phase off of Cuffman?
- Next phases along Brookside Drive?

Recent Starts:
- Second apartment building along Attenborough
- Building across from Woodstock Road Tim Horton's
- Wallace Ave
- Bishop Drive (under workforce housing zoning)

Golf Club Road I'm guessing won't have any large starts this year since they are working on the Golf Club Road end which is SFHs and duplexes.

I can tell you that the property unless the deal has not closed and the purchase is in the due diligence period is owned by FMI out of Woodstock which purchased it back nearly 2 years ago from Chouche-Tard (Quebec). Where it is zoned Neighbourhood Commercial Zone there would be a few hurdles to jump through for re-zoning, certainly possible.

There's fill being dumped at the old brownfield lot at the corner of Queen and Smythe (I can't remember if anyone had mentioned this, but figured I'd snap a photo as I was nearby)

And there's some initial steel framing going up for the Performing Arts Centre!
