Why are people assuming there is a height cut?? Did I miss something in the recent thread updates?

^At first it was supertall, then it became 875 ft, and now it is 841 ft, so a further cut is possible. We are simply hoping that even if it gets shortened further, it would still be just above 800 ft, like 1000M.

There's just a lot of uncertainty, but on SOM's website they are now listing it as 841'. Looking at the Wayback Machine, the last time they recorded it at 875' was June 2022. By Oct 2022 it was listed as 841'. As part of that same update, the descriptions of 634 rental units and 75 floors were also added. These numbers are very close to what's now being seen in the permits and IDHA application 635 unit and 73 floors. Do the 2 less floors mean an additional reduction? Or is there a discrepancy in how they're being counted? It's all speculation at this point.

True, although 841 foot figure could also be the "zoning height," which tends to measure up to the floor of the highest occupied level and ignore the crown/parapet. And sometimes floor counts are off by one because of not counting #13, so a building with a "75th floor penthouse" is counted as 74 floors.

Time will tell; this is speculation. I'm just excited to see any meaningful movement on this.

Wild that in 2023 people are still afraid of the number 13. I know in China skipping 4 is common too.

Around 850ft is still quite solid and the design is unique. Very excited this is hopefully going through.

Also excited about the last Parcel in LSE (was it number 1?). That being 900ft or so would add to the skyline quite a bit.

90 days takes us into the holiday season.

This one finally popping off would be quite the Xmas present!

A new ~850 footer is nice but a real Xmas present would be this and Parcel I and dare I dream Tribune East Tower.

Chicago is a big global city in a big wealthy country, it should continue its legacy.

It will.

But perhaps not at the preferred time scale of impatient internet skyscraper nerds.

Am I correct in previous reading, or thinking, south tower is first? Will they use a circular core for the south as is already built for the north?

Another question is how often do they use circular cores? Last one I remember in Chicago was for one museum park west.

Chi-Town based SOM is at it again. These towers look Art Deco inspired with a mid-century international flare cladded in a glass and aluminum window wall with decorative metal accent panels (think MetLife or OG WTC vibes).

Finally get to fill that spire pit which urban legend says is a secret portal to the other side of the world. Hope it gets the green and no watering down of the design.
