Vacant Grand Rapids grocery store to be demolished, turned into 168 apartments
Quote:
A vacant grocery store at 4325 Breton Road SE would be demolished and replaced by seven mixed-income apartment buildings, containing 168 units, under a proposal from East Grand Rapids-based SW Real Estate Investment.
The project, whose total cost is estimated at $36.4 million, got a boost Wednesday from the city of Grand Rapids Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The authority signed off on SW Real Estate Investment’s request for a $14.9 million reimbursement through the city and state’s housing tax increment financing program.
