City definition in Mexico

In this page's database the mexican "cities" are not really incorporated at all, what we have are the municipalities.

In Mexico, a city is a locality. Localities are the lowest degree of national subdivisions and they are in a municipality. A municipality can have more than one city like Los Cabos, which holds the cities of Cabos San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Those are just simple examples, but almost every municipality in Mexico has more than one city in it.

Sometimes this may confuse because in other countries that also have municipalities, they can be a city itself, but in Mexico it's not like that. Also because most of the mexican cities have the same name of their municipality. Here a municipality is just a political subdivision but not a city.
Here is a deeper explanation of the topic:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localities_of_Mexico. It says: Note that in Mexico's case, a municipality is not a city, a city is most often inside a municipality.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Settle...tion_in_Mexico

For example, my own city (Veracruz) covers two municipalities (Veracruz and Boca del Río), so basically almost all highrises in this municipality (Boca del Río) are in the city of Veracruz. Here (second paragraph) is a more specific explanation of the topic.
Another cities that extend beyond two or more municipalities are Naucalpan, Minatitlán and Mexico City. (Mexico City has its own municipalities (Boroughs) but the city is the entire federal entity).

Others in the database are: The entry of Los Mochis has the name of the main city (locality) but appears with the population of the entire municipality (Ahome municipality). The same happens with Cancún and Villahermosa being in Benito Juárez municipality for Cancún and Centro municipality for Villahermosa.

The good part is that most of the "city" entries in Mexico are well named, just the population needs to be changed according to the city proper population.

But also there are another metro areas that may have more changes like mine, here we have highrises in 5 different localities ("cities").

Here is the List of cities in Mexico: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Mexico (Top 100)
