Yes, or a slug. Or a human-invading alien creature from a horror flick like Shivers, The Hidden, or Brain Damage. It actually contains two Cronenberg allusions. The structure is out of Shivers, while the VHS slots hearken back to Videodrome.
In other words, it's an ugly beast. Pity about its prominence.
