That's OK.

This would belong on the Infinity Tower thread.

Regardless, the houses in question are located on the Irving owned block next door. We have no idea if Irving has any immediate plans.

(Jean-Claude) Basque recently sent an open letter to Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold, members of council and the media, outlining the group’s concerns about the proposed development on a flood zone next to the Petitcodiac River. They are also concerned about parking, a public patio along the riverfront trail, the sale of land by the city to the developer, and future use of public land along the riverfront.
The concern about the "public patio" is new, and, this is because it will be on city owned land leased to Lafford. The Gang has concerns this will be a precedent that could threaten other parts of the Riverfront Park and trail.

Quote:
Developer John Lafford, who operates several buildings in Moncton and Sackville, said Tuesday a team of structural engineers is working on designs for the twin towers.

“We’re going to put about $6 million into improving the ground before we put a foundation in,” Lafford said. “We cannot build on that natural landscape, so we have to drive 593 h-piles (steel beams) up to 90 feet (27 metres) into the ground until they reach bedrock.”

The steel beams will stabilize the foundations of the 17-storey buildings.
Lafford said structural engineers are also working on designs to mitigate the effects of a flood if the water levels of the Petitcodiac River rise that high.

Lafford addressed Basque’s concerns about future access by saying it is very doubtful that another project of this size would be proposed for the south side of Assomption Boulevard, mainly because there aren’t any pieces of land available that are large enough.
Sounds like a lot of pile driving is in the offing.

Lafford states that he doubts another similar project is possible south of Assumption due to geotechnical concerns. This puts any hopes for a similar project on the adjacent NB Power property in doubt.

The other lot could theoretically support a smaller project, maybe? 4-8 floors?
