Do the small circles denote a skylight? (a more appropriate symbol would be a small rectangle....the same shape as a skylight).

According to the Sanborn key little circles like that are iron chimneys, but I'd have to agree that the photo
shows a skylight. I didn't see any square or rectangular skylights anywhere on the Sanborn page that shows
the building in the photo.
As to why the skylight is at the bottom of what I could have called the "wedge," maybe the skylight helped
illuminate the back of the ground-floor store better than a window on the side of the wall would have?
