Also of interest (to me at least) in this photo: that circular imprint on the opposite corner where Simon's Sandwiches once stood. I'd prefer to have had
that structure preserved over Johnie's. While I am a fan of Googie architecture, I think the empty diner that now stands there is not a particularly noteworthy example of the style.
A friend and I ate at Johnie's once when it was still operational. We both experienced the worst diner food and the worst service of our lives.
