Starchitect Firm Likely Designing 12-Story West Street Condo

It looks like lower Manhattan will be treated to another building by starchitect firm Herzog & de Meuron. A tipster tells us that the Board of Standards and Appeals voted today to approve a variance for a HdM-designed 12-story mixed-use residential building on West Street across from Pier 40 between Leroy and Clarkson Streets. The address application on the BSA website lists 354/361 West Street as the property (BSA calendar number 192-13-BZ, if you want to search for it), and public records show that the site, along with 357 West Street and 156 Leroy Street, changed hands last year and is now owned by an entity identified as "AP-Isc Leroy Property Owner LLC C/O Ian Schrager Company"—i.e. a partnership between developer Area Property Partners and hotelier Ian Schrager.

I'm looking forward to what gets built here, Herzog & de Meuron aren't known for dissapointing designs.
