After a two-year delay, one development is moving forward: 1001 Van Ness will break ground this year on 247 assisted-living senior care units at the corner of Van Ness Ave. and O’Farrell St., which for years was the home of KRON TV.

In April the planning commission approved the revisions developer Oryx Partners made last year to their original plan of a 14-story residential tower for market-rate condos at the site. The updated plan is about 20 percent smaller than the original at 267,000 gross square feet, with one fourth of the original parking spaces and an extra 3,000 square feet of retail space . . . .

The project will start demolition later this year and begin construction in early 2020 . . . .
