T A I W A N (part 3): Kaohsiung 高雄 to Taichung 台中

The 3rd and final part of my trip. Having initially planned to use Taitung as a jumping point to visit the interesting Lanyu Island by plane I decided to change plans after two very scary failed attempts on a tiny plane, both of which ended in the pilot deeming it too unsafe to land. This was followed by numerous flight cancellations. With limited time I decided to check out the west coast. The west coast definitely seemed like the more developed side of the island, and I imagine many tourist stick to it. The west reminded me a lot of Japan, whereas the east coast reminded me a lot of Southern China.
I visited Kaohsiung (Taiwan's second largest city), Taichung (a very quickly developing city, and a great place for nightlife and tea house). From Taichung I took a day trip to the quant old town of Lugang, before heading back up to Taipei.
