Yet another French city I've never seen in person. Nice petite promenade, huh? the historic core looks well preserved on your pictures.

Kind of. Ho-hum is a proper joke, the area covered by the thread seems to feature a super nice historic diversity. It's got some Germanic touch that's actually spread over several northern regions of the country, especially those neighboring Germany and Belgium of course, but you'll find a bit of it in Paris too occasionally.

However, the light gray stone building with the European flag, for instance, looks pretty unusual to me. It really feels Dutch or German:
