A building proposed in 1921 (below) called the Convocation Tower, was proposed for this site (where the unfinished Metlife stands today). It would've been 1,010 feet tall, and would've really complemented the Metlife Tower (1909). If I had known that a stump would be sitting on this land and NOT the 1,400 foot tower that was promised I would've HOPED for everything that the Convocation Tower would see the light of day. It's really a sad situation all around in the world of architectural history, where two great 1,000+ footers, both would've been the worlds tallest building upon completion, and both were never built.
