Thanks Hoss for that culling of the CDs... I found a three-full-page article in the Herald of November 11, 1889, all about "East Los Angeles"--in celebration of the opening of the cable railway the day before. No image, but there's a mention of the the Sigler house:

A little noirishness regarding the neighborhood, including a complaint by a mama's-boy neighbor of the Sichels. (Have we seen anything on the leper house here before?)
