The Bremond Block is what you are all referring to. It is a historical intact block.
While most are indeed Offices now, that could always change back as we have more folks coming to Austin who could afford to live there. The apartments and houses to the west are all residential.

The point is not totally what they looked at on the 6X block. Its the view they historically had south across the river to the hills and across town. There were still peaks a gaps.
But it was the sense of space when you stand there. ( Which I hope everyone who is commenting has done, if you haven't; do so quickly . It's one of the coolest views of downtown) Now that they will stare at blank concrete the atmosphere will be forever changed.

I too and glad for 6X , but to not have a sense of Architecture past and present and how it interacts and affects the inhabitants is a bit unfortunate.

So get there quick. And then go back later. It will still be a really interesting contrast of old and new. But it will be quite different. It will be a fun place to photo the contraction. And then the fun will be gone along with a sense of space.
