Really tall industrial buildings are found for the following uses:
* Power stations ( example: Niederaussem Power Plant)
* Hangars ( example: VAB)
* Silos ( example: Henninger Turm)
* Blast furnaces
* Cement works
* Towers for shot manufacturing
etc.
