Short-haul airline to launch jet flights from Phoenix

Quote:
JetSuiteX, a Dallas-based airline that sells individual tickets on private jet-sized planes, will start operating out of Phoenix starting this fall.

JetSuiteX will operate flights from Swift Aviation, located on the southwest side of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The carrier will begin multiple daily flights out of Phoenix to Burbank, California, starting Aug. 30, Las Vegas starting Sept. 12, and Oakland, California, starting Oct. 1. Flights out of Phoenix are available to be booked on the company’s website.

Flights start at $79 one-way on the 30-seat Embraer 135 jets.

Phoenix will be the company’s seventh destination. It already flies to Burbank, Concord/East Bay, Las Vegas, Orange County, Oakland and Seattle. JetSuiteX is expected to start flying between Seattle to Oakland on July 1.

JetSuiteX flies from private terminals and says passengers can show up just 20 minutes before their departure — for pre-flight cocktails. The airline also offers seasonal flights to Coachella Valley/Thermal and Mammoth in California.

The airline also charters its jets for group trips, corporate events or other travel.

JetSuiteX is trying to exploit what CEO Alex Wilcox thinks is a market inefficiency as major carriers turn away from short-haul flights. Wilcox previously told the Dallas Business Journal, an affiliated publication of the Phoenix Business Journal, that he thinks JetSuiteX can become a $1 billion business.

JetSuiteX is part of California-based JetSuite Inc., which also has a brand called JetSuite.
