The Port of Hamburg makes for an interesting boat ride while the famous red light district Reeperbahn shows a more gritty Hamburg.

All boat tours begin with a tour of the historical Speicherstadt warehouse district.

Hamburg dry dock ahoy!

The largest container ship calling port at the time of our tour was a 8501 TEU Cosco Thailand which is nowadays only a mid-size ship.

It is still pretty big when you get really up close.

Back in the harbour it is interesting walk to cross the Elbe River through the old Elbtunnel.

An interesting thing about this tunnel is that how it is a car tunnel but cars have to taken an elevator down.

Elbtunnel is the main reason why the Port of Hamburg had to be relocated downriver as large vessels could not pass over it anymore.

Next we walked to the Reeperbahn district.

Yep, that's a hole made with an axe.

The red light district. Prostitution is a legal tax-paying business in Germany.

Also here gentrification is creeping closer and closer...

Time to check Hamburg after dark! First stop: the spectacular city hall.

There is not much going on in Speicherstadt after dark, but it is still a nice walk in a historic area.

Old buildings are illuminated really well. Too bad it was quite windy, making photos less sharp.

And there you have it! One more photo set coming up a bit later. Enjoy.
