This is the Santa Monica Pier

This shot shows the parking lot and building seen on the right side of the photo. The pier dates to 1909 and had an amusement park in the early days but none from 1930 until the current one, Pacific Park, opened in 1996. I believe the vintage photo was taken from this property which is now the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. I have not been able to identify the prior hotel
but am quite sure its rates were lower than the $1050/night it will now cost you to stay at the Loews.
