I've been looking forward to visiting this city for a long time now, but now that I have, i'm having some mixed feelings. While the city does have great potential and is in the process of building a skyline to rival that of Warsaw, along with many great Danube waterfront projects, the city itself didn't give off the feeling of ... a capital city of Slovakia. I'm sure its a silly comparison, but I was far more impressed with Ljubljana (Slovenia's capital) than Bratislava. There's a lot of missing infrastructure, many of the city's buildings are in need of immediate restoration. And the often heard statement that Bratislava is, along with Prague, one of the richest/highest standard regions of Eastern Europe simply doesn't drink water for me anymore.
