City finds money for apartment tower, grocery
Quote:
The city plans to use $12 million from a long-standing urban renewal district to move forward on plans for a 30-story apartment tower and grocery store Downtown, Economic Development Director Odis Jones said Friday.
Jones and developer David Flaherty, CEO of Flaherty & Collins, exclusively shared details of the project and new grocery store renderings with The Enquirer.
Downtown residents who have long sought a grocery will get to help shape it, Flaherty said. His company is bringing in an executive from a grocery chain to lead the 15,000-square-foot store based on public feedback on preferred products and services. Input will also be sought on the store name, possibly through a contest.
Flaherty & Collins will commit to keeping the store open at least five years, and hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
