Oakwood Heights was until recently a working class white holdout neighborhood separated from the rest of the city by the Rouge River. But with the expansion and retrofitting of the Marathon Refinery for processing Tar Sands oil the neighborhood was subject to buyouts due to the increased pollution in an area already surrounded by industry.
