Yes, after Spago relocated to Beverly Hills in 2001, I don't think it has been used since to my knowledge, although I was by there recently and it does look like the building's been repainted in the last few months.
It's been used for filming a couple times that I know of. In 2018 it played Spago's (both inside and outside) in the film Billionaire Boys Club, which starred Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Taron Egerton, Emma Roberts, Judd Nelson and Cary Elwes. It's a decent movie, but hardly got a release because of Kevin Spacey's troubles at the time. (
"Made only $126 on the opening day of its limited U.S. theatrical release, where the movie was screened in 12 theaters in 12 U.S. cities.")
The last I heard was someone trying to open a daycare center of some kind there, or was it a pre-school, which seems an extremely weird location for such a thing, but it didn't happen.
Businesses there have used either the 1114 Horn Ave. address or 8795 Sunset Blvd. address, or both.
I know it was built as a Spanish style residence in 1932. In September of 1941 it opened as the Cafe Gala. No one's ever found a photo of it as either the Cafe Gala or the Spanish residence.
