This photo is from a family album documenting a road trip by a father and son, where they visit points of interest along the LA Aqueduct. The album is available to view on the NET, but I can't recall where at the moment. One of the California library sites.

Edit: Relying on memory has gotten me into trouble before, so you'd think I 'd know better. The above comment is simply incorrect after doing a bit of searching to support (disclaim) it. The above photo is very similar to the one in the road trip album I mention, but in fact it is not the same. The following link is a sideshow of the album I speak of, though it is from 1915 where two FRIENDS take a road trip. It starts with a photo of the departure point in Hollywood, 1837 Canyon Drive. The site also shows a then and now photo of the house.
