A study was completed on converting the Royal Inn at 200 S. Broad St. into commercial space. The dilapidated motel sits across Bus. 40 opposite BB&T ballpark. The new space would act as a gateway into West Salem and somewhat add to the mixed-use neighborhood thats taking shape around the stadium.

New businesses are popping up around future the Mast General Store site. The Clubhouse Salon for men is moving from the Stratford Rd area to 505 Cherry Street. They were voted by Yes! Weekly as best Triad Barbershop. Cool shop with beer and video games.

Small Batch is moving forward with phase two of their brewery adding a full restaurant next to the bar. They are looking to add other locations in NC in the future.

Haute Chocolate and Revolution Gliding Tours are partnering to bring a multi-use hub to the core called
Twin City Hive. Haute Chocalate will relocate from West End to join RGT at 301 Brookstown Ave. The new space will feature the two businesses as well as a coffee shop that will feature roasters from all over NC.
