The City of Chicago wanted to transform the façade of an existing building into the new Chicago Visitor Center. Our façade is a wind sculpture; a shimmer of glass ‘Solar Sequins’ responding to the beauty of wind patterns.The design incorporates photovoltaic cells laminated between layers of glass that are choreographed to respond to breezes. Generating enough clean and free energy to offset 51 tons of carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere, the clean energy is channeled to power amenities for the building. The sequins yield 48,000 kwatts per year.....
