I think that the number may be closer to 120/130 in 2025 if activity continues at the current rate, even though it's clearly accelerating as the economy improves (or just sucks less depending who you ask) and banks are more able and willing to give bigger loans. I expect that the outer boroughs will be getting more proposals for 200m towers than Manhattan 10 years from now and will almost certainly get a 1000 footer proposed before 2020. Hell, even Staten Island will probably get a 200m tower proposed before 2020.
I'm starting to think that a serious proposal for a megatall (almost certainly on 57th street, Midtown East or somewhere in the Hudson Yards) will be a reality by 2020 with a completion date before 2030.
