Even if the Feds were to put up 50% of the cost and the state to throw in 10% where's the balance going to come from? We're talking about several to many hundreds of million $$$ that would need to be raised locally. And then further down the list is how would SEPTA come up with funding for the increased operating costs.

I'm not speaking against this or practically any non auto centered transit project, and god knows we need a bunch of them ASAP, but since when does need and desire get much built when you have to operate in a political environment where the car is King and Queen. A US senator from TN. recently called mass transit users 'socialists'!
I have an inside source within SEPTA who has told me nothing but positives about the developments of the KOP spur. They have ensured me time and time again that it will be built.
