I love modernism too, but if we end up with a sea of buildings like this we'll end with an excruciatingly boring looking city. Architecture should inspire, excite, and beautify besides fulfilling its basic functions. The criticism is that developers are simply fulfilling function with little regard for the rest. These will improve the block immensely, but do little to build Toronto into an architectural delight.
