I agree. However, it should be noted that Downtown Connector (I75/I85) did damage the grid. Streets that immediatly come to mind that were disconnected are 8th, 3rd, Spring plus I'm sure many more. If you look at a old map or old aerial photos of Atlanta you can see the effect.
