^it should be noted that the island is only home to about 4000 citizens and most of them are seniors and nearly all jobs ( other than the health/gov sector ) is in agricuture or freight so power consuption is low compared to places with heavy industry or large commercial centers..
So while I'm of course happy that the island is getting some positive attention ( I love the place ) it is only a very small community who thanks to a lot of government/green industry funding/aid and have been made into a PR stunt - of the people on the ground 98% don't care..
And while the island in theory may be selfsurficient in electricity they still buy theirs from Jutland as windpower is more expensive and less reliable than more conventional types...
