If I lived full-time in a small city it would probably have to be in Europe, because of the much better connectivity and historical urban centers. There are places like Zug in Switzerland which has like 30,000 people, but is half an hour by train from Zurich or Lucerne so you’re not totally in the sticks. And there are more high-quality cities the size of a Madison, WI than you can list.
