White Rock is actually fully a suburb of Vancouver and part of the metro.
I think you may be thinking of Abbotsford which is considered a separate metro from Vancouver, though even so a lot of people consider it to be part of Greater Vancouver.
That said, there are a number of cities maybe 1-2 hours east of Vancouver that would probably fit the bill.
