Projects & Construction:
I want to thank the photographers and local businesses, sharing updates on projects, who make this thread possible. Without you, these updates won't happen.

Yes, this is the city seen in a British magazine as a great place for investment, due to how attractive it has become to young college graduates!

Hotel Indigo:
According to the developer, this hotel will open in 13 days. Less than two weeks! They are painting the EIFS brown on the stair tower. Again, when Hyatt Place Hotel and Crawford Condominiums are built, you won't see the EIFS.

Notice how tall the ceilings are! Ceilings are 14 feet / 4.3 metres tall in this building:

These are the original 1928 light fixtures, painted black to match the Agreeable Grey, gold, and white color scheme:

They don't look like the original light fixtures, but maybe they will in a closer photograph? They appear plain and not as decorative as the originals?

The globes on the lights are also original to the building, from 1928:

Dave & Buster's:
This barcade/entertainment complex will open May 13. Did you know these barcades have 200-250 employees? Wow! I didn't know that many people worked there. Dave & Buster's prefers two-storey buildings, too. According to the press release, “Dave & Buster’s will provide Winston-Salem and the surrounding communities with a premier entertainment destination for the entire family, featuring a variety of arcade-style games, a state-of-the art sports-viewing experience, as well as an extensive food and beverage menu.”

Another boutique hotel in downtown. It's moving slowly.

I'm still amazed at how big this project is, which is best seen in skyline photographs:

Winston Junction:
Ember will open an audio and home furnishings store, soon, in a retail space at downtown's Winston Junction. Ember and the store's owners moved to Winston-Salem from San Francisco. Winston Junction's Market will open March 30, with a variety of vendor stalls.

Vendors are touring the market space. Look for everything from vintage clothing to artisan chocolate:

Winston-Salem Has Become Attractive for Young College Graduates:
Downtown Winston-Salem appeared in a British-based magazine for European companies interested in expanding. They said "young talent is seeking a community that is fun, exciting, and social when they look to where they want to live after they complete their education. The focus of the younger generation is not on where or who will I work for but rather where will I live? Where previous generations would move based on where they could find a job, younger talent is now considering job availability after they have decided upon their location." "This social vibrancy in downtown Winston-Salem is what drives the relocation of this young generation to the downtown area and the Winston-Salem area. With continued growth of downtown through revitalization projects, and entertainment options, Winston-Salem will attract top talent for its companies. The city formerly known for Camel cigarettes and Hanes textiles is now quickly becoming a destination for young talent with fun, social, and vibrant entertainment options attracting talent that likes the benefits of power cities such as Nashville and New York, but at a much lower cost."
