Goodbye Wooden Planks ~ The 8th Street Bridge/Downtown

Here is a bit of transportation/bike and pedestrian commuter news.

This bridge was part of Boise's historic streetcar/trolley route in the early 1900's. I am trying to find photos online of a streetcar on the bridge, but so far no luck.

Crews will be replacing the wood planking on the bridge with concrete to increase accessibility.

The bridge will be closed throughout the duration of the replacement project.

A detour will be put in place for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project started July 7 and will take 3 months to complete.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse
