So there's no sign of movement at the "Summit at the Cairns" site in Sandy yet but there is a large sign advertising the project that is visible from the freeway. It's the same renderings that we've seen
on the website.
I also wanted to mention that I recently did some pixel math to figure out which building is the tallest in Utah right now outside of downtown SLC. The correct answer is the
IHC Sorenson Patient Tower in Murray (which is ~220 ft), not the Mountain America building in Sandy like the news articles at the time claimed (
example). The Mountain America building isn't even taller than the tallest buildings in Provo and Ogden.
Tallest buildings in Utah outside of SLC:
- Sorenson Patient Tower, Murray (2007)
- Pederson Patient Tower, Provo (2019)
- Ogden City Municipal Building, Ogden (1940)
- Fourth District Courthouse, Provo (2018)
- Ben Lomond Suites, Ogden (1927)
I do think the Summit will be the new tallest outside of SLC if it is built.
