Coronavirus: 2 more containment zones denotified in Dakshina Kannada

Schools coerce parents to pay fees despite lockdown

Lockdown relaxed in DK; Huge rush at liquor outlets, markets

Tipplers in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi keep order while stocking up on booze

Alas, everyone is not a tippler and every shop is not a booze shop!

About Rs. 8.5 crore worth liquor sold in twin districts

Out of Rs. 45 crore sold in Karnataka Rs. 7 crore is from DK!

Six-member expert panel keen on tracking ‘Patient Zero’ of Padil cluster case

How about making a coastalwood investigation movie based on this story? Anyone reserved the title 'Patient Zero'? We have time till May 17 to write down a story. There are many other attractive titles like 'Asha Worker', 'Flattening the Curve', 'Heat Map', 'Border Blockade', 'Orange Zone', 'Containment Zone', 'Primary Contact', 'Secondary Contact', 'Asymptomatic Carrier', 'Surgical Mask', 'N95 Mask', 'Face Shield', 'Supply Chain', 'Booze Ban', 'Aarogya Setu', 'Telemedicine', 'Plasma Therapy', 'Vaccine Candidate', 'Phase 3', 'Bioterrorist' etc. There are already movies titled 'Green Zone', 'Yellow Zone', 'Red Zone', 'The Hot Spot', 'Isolation Ward', 'Quarantine', 'Control Room', 'War Room', 'Lockdown', 'Zero Tolerance', 'Pandemic', 'Ventilator', 'Swab'. Here are some hints for stories - 1 2.

Youth 'quarantined' at fiance's house even though their wedding is postponed

Can add this too the movie story.

Nrithyantine: A Bharatnatyam by 23 artists from 23 locations during lockdown
Maathey | Bharatanatyam by 23 dancers during lockdown

'Socially Distanced' is also a good title for a movie.

With libraries closed, elderly opt for book swapping

'Swapped Book' is also a nice title! Why elderly citizens don't have writing habits? They can write and swap them.

The gaurs might have visited unpopulated airport and then entered the city swimming through Gurupura river. Instead of videos on this we should have videos of Pilikula zoo like this - After tiger video goes viral, Byculla Zoo decides to have own YouTube channel, Watch: Mumbai's Byculla Zoo gets a pair of tigers. Website pilikulazoo has gallery but no videos. There are only a few good videos in youtube - Pilikula Biological Park, Mangalore - Kids day out, Mangalore Diaries My visit to Pilikula Nisargadhama, Swami Vivekanada Planetarium, Biological Park. I think aquarium will now be delayed by a decade at least!

Startup pledges to deliver 1 million face shields

Any startup in Tulunadu working on electric face mask? 1 2

I think it would be better to have electric fans everywhere in PPE gowns/PPP suits or 2 to get cool filtered air but fans should be light & silent as much as possible. And entire PPE should be reusable 1. And electric fans are 'positive pressure fans' generating extra air pressure inside PPE to provide protection against contamination due to damage in PPE gown (not sure whether this extra air pressure can be generated by using positive pressure fans). (One here is reusable but without any air filter so I think it needs connection to air/oxygen supplying cylinder always).

Alternatively PPE can be cooling garment 1 2.

Aleternatively if you have a super laboratory then can copy & combine all these features for a hitech PPE - 1 2 3.

Is it possible to develop & manufacture such type of fans in Tulunadu? All plastic parts of PPP suits or PPE including fans can be manufactured in proposed plastic park in future. Anyway ISPRL is fully loaded already to keep cost of plastic cheap at least for sometime.

The political parties should have some vision & should show more interest in woeing migrant workers to stay back by helping them on this. If migrants are allowed to go back then how Tulunadu economy can bounce back once lockdown is withdrawn?

Why these parties didn't distribute the money to migrant workers instead of KSRTC for their return ticket? Did they help migrant workers with food & shelters? Okay, now these party volunteers can go to farms & plantations and help in harvesting as workers are not available.

The district authorities should not allow any worker to come back till crisis is fully mitigated in India as migrants' home districts/states are getting worst affected by the disease than our district.

Reverse migration of workers hits plantation sector hard in Karnataka
Quote:
However, some migrant workers, like Devesh from Jharkhand, have stayed back after plantation owners provided them accommodation. Mr. Devesh who works at an arecanut plantation in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district said four of his family members earn about ₹2,000 a day for 20 days in a month. Back home, they cannot earn even ₹1,000 a day, he said elaborating his decision to stay back.
How many construction companies in Mangaluru could retain their migrant work force? Whether enough workers are available for all maintenance works to be carried out before monsoon?

Anyway our own migrant workers have returned/returning back so scarcity should come down to a small extent. Let us see how many of gulf returnees can compensate this requirement.

So, Mangaluru & Udupi have international migrant workers also.

Lodges in Mangaluru been identified for quarantining abroad returnees
Expats upset over no evacuation flights from Gulf to state

I think from other countries there is no heavy rush so can be evacuated easily. Evacuation from gulf countries requires more preparation & hence time. The government may be waiting for ships to reach there first so that everyone don't rush to airports! Even airports in Gulf countries may not have enough staff to support all evacuations to happen in the first week itself hence staged evacuations.

Submit report on 'P-0' of First Neuro Hospital: Dist min
'Trace origin of corona-positive cases at First Neuro hospital' - Dist in-charge minister

'P-0' is one or many?

Lockdown day 42: Dakshina Kannada corona tally increases by 1, no new cases in Udupi
Karnataka: One more tests COVID-19 positive in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Third member of family tests coronavirus positive

And including this fresh patients primary and secondary contacts how many more samples are waiting to be tested?

In 11 districts, coronavirus cases doubled faster than Karnataka average

DK doubling rate is 12 days.

COVID-19: Three more test positive in Dakshina Kannada
Five members of family in Boloor now affected by Covid-19

After these three cases doubling rate might have increased drastically.

Another burst of 4 cases in two days. The reason is delay in testing. How many days it takes test result to come out after swab sampling is done? In totality, we have to see the delay in term of days to announce test results of primary & secondary contacts of a fresh patient after that patient is tested positive. If we can reduce this delay then doubling rate will come down drastically as we are able to isolate patient before they can spread disease. Currently we have ability to test around 200 samples per day at Wenlock. If total number of primary & secondary contacts are less than 200 then result can be announced next day itself. For the time being as our testing rate is slow tertiary & even quaternary contacts might be already start spreading the disease.

Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha said that he has spoken to Bagalkot deputy commissioner. The DC said that the girl had reached Bagalkot in March. “There were no coronavirus positive cases either in Udupi or nearby districts then. Therefore, she is not likely to have contracted the virus in Udupi. As the girl had left from Udupi before lockdown, there is no need for people here to be anxious about it,” he said.
Only worry is if migrant workers are allowed to come back before the disease is totally eliminated from India.
