A St. John’s hotelier is expanding one of his brands outside the province.
JAG Hotel, owned by Steele Hotels, is looking to open a second location in the Cogswell District of Halifax. The proposed development will feature 10 floors and 170 rooms near the Metro Centre in Halifax.
John Steele says they are still awaiting approval on the project. He is hopeful that construction will get underway in late spring or early summer.
Meanwhile, plans are ongoing to expand JAG’s footprint in the west end of St. John’s. Steele says city officials appear upbeat about the project. Once approved, it will be bigger than the new Halifax hotel.
He says it will have about the same number of rooms, but will include a new multi-purpose room.
